Anyone Want to Help with A charity Childrens Hospital Site (logo & code)

Hey guys. I am usually strictly a programmer. recently, i started designing a site for Children's Hospital of LA. It is a charity site (free of charge of course) that is for the Endocronology (diabetes) center. My sister has diabetes. It is a database site (and more) that allows users to store their diabetes tests and keep track of them. It can generate graphs, analyze months and years and is pretty complex (as far as backend PHP goes). The one thing it dosn't do is have a good logo bar. I currently stole the Children's Hospital LA logo but I want something more custom to the site that involves the name Diabetes-Connection.com. This is so it can adapt to other hospitals. It is all open source but so far I am the only one working on it. I have no clue about designing graphics (although I have "obtained" adobe CS and Flash MX). PS. I would like the image or flash movie to be 740 x 61 (or 60) pixels so it will be the same size as the one i have now. Please whovever wants to help, I am clueless on image desgin.

I am not the best designer so I was wondering if some people would like to contribute. I would like to say that I am NOT getting paid for this. I am doing it out of the goodness of my heart. I am looking for someone competent in HTML/CSS who can design an apealing page. It is open source so if you are interested on improving my design, please post back or PM me or email me at midfielder100@aol.com. If you are interested in joining the project, I do need a couple people. It's all open source and everything.

legit?? not sure what you mean or how you want me to prove that I am. this is a charitable website, you can check that with the head of endocronology at Childrens Hospital LA Fran Kaufman, MD. I am paying for hosting out of pocket and have done all the programming in my free time. look at all the posts I have done here at devshed. I have been a member for like 4 days and have posted for people over 100 times (all involving PHP). I have given alot of my knowledge in PHP but graphic design is where I lack knowledge. I desperatly need your help and I'm not sure how to prove it. Ask some of the people I've worked with in PHP. Please, I need help. If you ever needed help in PHP or other programming in the future, I would be glad to help you.

lol sorry. i know i just think that with your experience (400+ posts) you are probably a pretty good designer and I didn't want to lose you. (that sounds wierd but you know what i mean). I understand. I would want to be sure before I put time and effort into this. I just have ZERO experience designing graphics and I just did my first web page designing for this site. As you can tell, I will probably try to get another person who is good at HTML designing, as I think my design looks kind of amateur (which it is). I didn't think you were attacking me I just got a little anxious . Sorry if I came off with the wrong tone, I am just excited . So please, don't let my jumpiness defer you from this project. I think it could turn out to get a lot of use. If you want some more info, I will set you up with an account and you can see what I have done so far.

is it just an animated banner for the top of the site or is it all going to be in flash ?

No the it is just a banner. It could be an animated gif, a still jpeg or a flashy flash movie. I just posted it in flash also because i know many graphic designers use flash also. I am not going to be picky because I do not know how to do design graphics at all. I would tend to stay with a still graphic because sometimes i think animations can look tacky if poorly designed. but if someone could design a nice appealing flash or gif animation, i might gravitate towards using that. i dont really know. take a look at the site and tell me what you think would look best.

...if its purely a banner, maybe it would be a good idea to post some dimensions and see what happens. I dare say you will have a few offers/links appearing on this thread to some designs.

above i posted the dimensions as 140 x 61 (60) but i meant 740 (as i had posted in the first post). I hope no one took those wrong dimensions and tried to make something. Once again dimensions are 740 x 61 (or 60) pixels. Hope some of you can help.
