E-commerce project

We are a worldwide gemstone wholesaler looking to make our entry into e-commerce. For this project we are looking to retain the services of a company/freelance to design an e-commerce website to our specifications.

We want our website to stand out of the pack in terms of exclusivity, professionality, and functionality. For those reasons we want a custom design, rather than the one-size-fits-all capability provided by the 'shop builder' packages. Our target customers are wholesale and retail and we will have a rapidly evolving inventory list of around 5000-10000 gemstones.

Some of the features we are thinking about are:

- Multi-level inventory screens showing lists of gemstones in inventory, detail screens per stone with thumbnail pic and popup high-quality pics.
- Very extensive search and filter options. Eg. carat size, shape, color, type, measurements, rarity, price etc. as well as incremental shifts by click of a button, filter save, etc..
- Client accounts with features such as order status, order history, custom filter saving, custom offers, custom inventory access, newsletters etc.
- Correlating between past client activity and inventory.
- Order management, cart
- Full transaction management, interfacing w/financial servicing firms like worldpay and escrow.com
- Calendar of world trade events and features for customers to order stones for live viewing.
- Accommodate other vendors to enter their catalogues into our website and divert orders as such
- Advanced inventory management w/bulk uploads, advanced check in/check out features (barcode?), order management, client account management.
- Various company background screens, service etc.
- Reporting
