Wink *insert title different from all the others to get attention here*

I am currently developing a gaming website. The site will be huge and I'm looking for someone who's as versed in web development languages as me, or preferably better. Javascript is cool, flash, PHP/mySQL a must.

If you're interested in helping me out, and you'd like to know more about the project you can AIM me at ChancelorXD or reply here, thanks.

NOTE: I'm looking for someone who will have a lot of time to devote to the site, and someone that's not currently working anywhere else. I don't mind the age as long as you are mature and can handle yourself on a site where the staff are to be respected, yet actually have a personality. It would also help if you're into Gaming or Game Creation, as that is what the site is based around. The hosting is aquired, and the layout is done. I've done minimal PHP work, but i know I can't do it myself.

Hey,

My little design firm was thinking about doing the same thing, called GamePlex. We are diverse when it comes into ages (14 and 16 almost 17) and we were thinking about doing it and chances are we probably will. But if ya ever need help don't hesitate to contact us! We'll help and we don't care about credit or any of that we'll do it for ya, just to help ya. I wish we could do more, but we got a big e-commerce project coming thats at least a 1 month-2month project with mysql databasing/php/flash/javascript and a hybrid of other technologies.

We're found here:

Well the best of luck to you.

Chancelor, is it a pay job?
Motorspin, your site looks *very* similar to TeamPhotoshop...

No, no pay. Just looking for someone that's interested in gaming and looking to help with the site.

Chancelor, please be respectful to other members and not use topics that make your post look like a priority over theirs. Thanks

No, though I do have socialist leanings. . .

It's called respect for other people's time.

Slash-and-burn tactics (like thinking your stuff is more important than everybody else's and not respecting general posting rules) aren't going to get you very far on-line or in the world generally, and you SURE as hell won't be able to build a community.

In fact, this flippiant response from you has pretty much negated the utility of this thread you created. . . But good luck anyway.

It's just some friendly advice from some (mostly) friendly people. . .

actually i had put that title there as a place holder until i could think of a better one that would grab attention, just forgot to change it when the post was done. and i was wondering how you would ever know who can and who can't build a community? and even if you could tell by a person do you really think you could judge them from one post? do you really think you could judge them at all? and who gives you the right to pass judgement period?

Like I said, good luck! It wasn't a flame, but an observation- those who don't show that they respect other's time as being as important as theirs have a difficult time building a community around them.

I know something about this- I was a community organizer for three years, and in the past have managed a staff of 20+ staff working for me- hiring, firing, paying and training them.

If you don't respect people and you practice slash-and-burn (meaning "extract as much value from people as you can in as little time as possible, including breaking common rules of decency and being a putz when gently reminded") you don't get far.

But again, good luck. I'm sure you're a nice person, don't take it personally. Again, you're digging your hole deeper here. Anyone that comes to read this thread is going to be completely turned off from working with you. . .

I would be interested in helping with your project Chancelor, on a part time basis for free.

I like doing things like this, it gives me a chance to play around and learn a little bit more.

If you would like, email me at sam@optikalillusions.net

you have referred to me as indecent and a putz. how is this not flaming? what i'm saying is you have no right to "observe" me and publicly flame me, keep your opinions to yourself. as a moderator or whatever you are, you should realize that your posts are only needed in threads that you are going to contribute positively to, or threads that contain rulebreaking.

Damn context. I meant the "royal you," not you specifically. Sorry for the misunderstanding, and good luck!

threads that contain rulebreaking

One of the accepted standards of this community is that users will post informative, tasteful, and, above all else, honest descriptions of their thread in the subject.

You are currently in the midst of a large community of (generally) busy people, so this is of the utmost importance. Your post's topic is not informative, tasteful, or honest. You make no mention of any of the important parts of this post:

1. You are looking for help.
2. You are looking for free help.
3. You are looking for a LOT of free help.

These three things are all fine, but they are not mentioned in your topic. You have wasted my time, and, undoubtedly, many other people's by posting that gibberish subject as I regrettably have no free time to give, and therefore, have nothing to contribute to your effort.

I personally see no reason to ostracize you completely, despite the incredibly snide, self-important attitude you are displaying. However, if you intend to continue posting and become a productive member of this community, or any other community at that, suck up your pride, admit that you made a mistake (if only privately and to yourself), and when you post next time keep this learning experience in mind.

I have been "flamed" by people on this message board as well, namely, by FreeBSD. I also learned how to conduct myself in a more productive and community-minded manner after looking at it from other people's perspecitves instead of just my own.

Oh well I'm sorry for wasting your precious time, but I don't really care what you think, as I said above you can stay the hell out of my threads unless you have something productive to say. Furthermore, if you'd even give some of your precious time to actually READ my post before you waste my time and yours by posting something completely irrelevent and unneeded. I said i put that there as a placeholder.

I still don't see how I've broken any rules...it's what we like to call an attention getter, it certainly grabbed your attention now didn't it?

And since we both know I've been around these parts for such a LONG time, I should know the general consensus shouldn't I?
