just seeing if i could rustle up some help ...
i was looking to "meet" a couple of programmers (c++ not web/flash, etc.) to discuss possibly working on an open-source programming project. i have some good ideas for a program, just not the skills to build it myself. i'm getting better but i would like to see if anyone who might really know how to cook would want in.
the project is unnamed at the momment ... open to discussion.
the project entails an open source text (programming/web) editor that has a couple key features that other such editors don't have. when i went looking for something that might do what this will, i couldn't find anything.
a big key feature is a unified "project file" that dissects a programming project, whether web or c++ or whatever, into all the appropriate files. these files will not be straight *.c files or *.html, but something different. a heavily commented proprietary format, that will be cleaned up upon compilation (don't think of compiling as building in programming terms, more like finalization). the project file indexes all linkages between files, whether by href's in web or includes in c++, etc., and should any linkage be changed from an explorer-tree style panel (renaming a file, changing its path relative to root) all subsequent files that are linked are updated with the "new link".
i have many other great ideas and am in the process of putting together a little site that will explain in more depth. but before i waste any more time on something much to large for one man i want to see if anyone else wants in. i'm looking for dedication and know-how. sorry, but i'm the designated newbie and i feel if i get lots of requests from other newbies the project may die.
let me know if you want in ... i will add more details to this thread as they arise/are needed.
