Looking for a programmer!

I am looking for someone to write a PC based program that is somewhat complicated. I know a lot about web dev, with php, perl, etc., but know absolutely nothing about PC based software programming.

I believe that C & C++ the most commonly used languages (not positive) and I am trying to figure out the best language to have the program we are developing coded in, and secondly, how to go about finding somewhat to do it.

Without getting into specifics, here is what the program needs to do:

1. Utilize drop down menus, page layout, etc. with graphic that I have already had designed.

2. Use plugins like, shockwave, media player, flash, etc.

3. Be able to take snapshot of the screen several times and export them to burn a cd.

4. Be able to do the same thing as #3, but export the to a folder on the web via ftp.

These are just a few of the features that I need to have done, and I just wanted to see if I am on the right track in looking to C or C++ programmers to do the work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What was the target OS?

C / C++ can do all these things. JAVA may be a choice if portability is more important than speed.

Places like rent-a-coder or topcoder may be able to help in finding a coder.
Make sure yo get a professsional not a hobbyist. The difference is a pro will work till they get it right, not till they get bored.


I have code for most of this stuff using MS windows OS's but whats the pay?

Also C# and Delphi other programs that comes to my mind techsmith have SDK for their applications. Developer you hire can use them for screen shots( even for movies).
PS: C# is only for windows but Delphi/Kylix works on both linux/windows.

At this point I am just trying to figure out what is the best language to have it coded in. It will be for Windows OS. I want to make sure that it is progammed with a solid, versitile, and popular language...So that if we need any changes down the road, they will be easy to find someone to do it if the original programmer is not available.
