Lightbulb **UPDATED**Looking for help with a business project.

I am in the process of setting up a new business with a web presence. I have been searching the internet to find either:
a)a program that already does what I need
or
b) a programmer to do it for me.

Here is the requirements:

A mySQL database fron end that does the following:

Only accesed by registered users
different "levels" or "groups"
Detailed Data availability (certain fields or tables) limited by level or group
User who creates record can edit it
admin approval for new/edited records, but still available in search
Certain fields of records not created by user hidden, and not searchable.

I am sorry I am being a bit vague about this, but it is a unique idea and I need to be a little discrete. Here is an email I wrote kind of describing the function generically:

Quote:
I plan on using it for a very large amount of data, as a reporting tool for field reps and a research tool for others, all using the same data.

Basically I want a person to be able to add and edit every field of their own record, but only be able to search and view a limited number of fields of others records based on their user group...so lets say I have the following fields that are created when a record is added:

name
address
telephone
dateofbirth

I want the person who creates the record to be able to view all 4 fields and edit their own records, but nobody else's.

I want the other people on the site to only see the name and dateofbirth fields, and not be able to edit anything but the records they added, unless they have paid for access to the additional info

Hope someone can be of assistance.

Sounds pretty straightforward! If it's PHP and mysql It's easily done!

Thumbs up i suggest PostgreSQL

In case you will have a really big database, with people accesing it simultaneously, PostgreSQL is the best solution.

I am used with this kind of applications (worked on a large Integrated Management System before) so I can help you, doing the job cheap and fast. Why ? I'm still working for the portofolio. See http://www.remotecoders.as.ro for details.

I'm waiting for your reply !

Small Update to my request.

I am still looking for a programmer who will be willing to discuss flat rates or other arrangements for payment (partnership, trade for sitespace, etc)

I need to have an operational site by mid November at the lates. I have found alot of tools to help me get close to what I want. I am currently building the tables in the database, and I have an app that will generate the PHP script to add/edit/delete records and use a userlist for access.

Mainly I will need a coder to do 1 of 2 things:

1)create their own code that does what I need

2)Modify the code generated by PHPmaker and add the user/group checking routines to limit/allow certain types of access.

As far as I know, nobody is attempting something like this in this particular field of interest, so it would be a VERY good portfolio type project for someone willing to make it work.

I also have over 300 people who are ready to "beta test" the application as soon as I can get it running.

There are additional features I would like to be able to add at a later date (once the site starts generating some money) So whoever programs the application will most likely get more and more challenging work as I add features for such things as data mining, or graphing.

I am also looking in the future for someone to write a standalone version of the application that will be able to upload new records to the database, while keeping copies of that data on the local users machine.

If you respond to me via email, please include your rates, or if you prefer a flat fee. I am very loath to discuss the particulars until I am sure I have a reliable programmer at my side.
