Looking for HTML or PHP work..

Heya

My name is Robin and i'm 15 and from Richmond in London (UK). I've been coding HTML for about 2 years now and i'm quite advanced at it (i would show you an example but my server is down). I'm also in the process of learning PHP and i'm at the stage where i can make not too complicated scripts.. like a userdb using sesions (cookies) etc.. stuff like that.

Anyway, i'm looking for some work that i can get paid to do (eg. make you a design for a site or make a PHP script). My charges won't be high (depending on type of work) and projects will be completed asap as i have much free time.

As has been said before, this part of the forums is essentially for people to post projects that they need help on and not for people to post freelance adverts. If it was then we nearly all would have posted something to say that we are adavnced ASP,PHP,JavaScript,Python,HTML,XML,XSL,WML,VB,SQL programmers who would like a little work on the side. If you are desparate for work then you should have at least waited until your server is up and running so that you could show examples. Or given a URL and not said anything about no connection being available at the moment.

In the business world, it must be done not when you got lots of time, but when client wants it to be done. Moreover, yes even though you're young, you really should consider learning something more then mark up language and little php before looking for a job.

I'm not trying to discourage you from trying to get little cash on the side, but right now your best bet would be to hang out on devshed untill you get some good real life experience, and then look for freelance positiong, althoug again freeelancing is preferable after you have had some experience working for big company with big people.

To explain that there is much to learn, here's a little bit from my past...

I learnt HTML in 1995 in two days, and produced a booklet on simple HTML in the same year. I went from there to study javascript until I thought I had a good grasp of it, then turned to Java. I didn't persue Java quite as intensively as I was needing VB and Access knowledge for the jobs I was doing at the time. I learnt SQL in my spare time so that I could be available for Oracle and SQLServer jobs, and to get into VBA/SQL/Access programming. Since I was using Access I thought that ASP would be a good thing to learn, so learnt the fundamentals of ASP so that I could get it to interact with Access. Since then I haven't done much VB/ASP/Access, but have still been using SQL extensively with PostgreSQL and MySQL. I started creating shell scripts and getting into Unix two years ago. Just last year I took up PHP but have progressed strongly with it, and believe me when I say progressed. I have been asked to teach PHP to people at work, so that's quite progressed.

Added to that I have learnt WML, VRML, SVG and Flash. I only now consider myself in a position to offer freelance work. So believe me when I say there's lots to learn. This hasn't even taken into account the business aspect, something that I have been researching for over a year and still feel is a complicated issue.

I commend you for having the courage to ask for a chance to establish your self as a developer.

Please do not be discouraged by the mostly negative responses you have received to your post here in this forum.

I think about what you could be doing instead of programming. You could be running the streets with bad kids, doing drugs, etc.

Instead, you are being constructive and productive! This is a good thing...

I am interested in your talent and would like to have contact with you. Usually the big people at big companies are so important to themselves that they are totally unapproachable. So, you should not be limited to pursuing unapproachable people.

Be encouraged to pursue your goals. Everyone has a gift. The question is are they using it or abusing it.

Let's talk. Show me what you can do. You will have a captive audience.

You can gain a lot of experience doing work for free.

I know it sounds bad, but don't expect to get paid for work until you're just a little older. People in business need to have people who can be held accountable because their work is their bread and butter.
