New Software Project Opportunity

Hello All,

I have a new software program that I would like developed. However, I have looked at some of my competitors and need some information or ideas about how their products were developed. I need to know how internet filtering software is programmed, what language they developed Net Nanny or Cyberpatrol in (examples) If anyone out there has any ideas or knows anything about creating filtering software please let me know. I would like to create a product that is similar to the way those products function but my product will be for different purposes.

i do not know anything about NetNanny type of software, except that it is used to block unacceptable sites from kids.

however, i am sure they are using multiple approaches to performing the task. they probably use a combination of:
1 a lookup into a list of known sites
2 a check of the URL for keywords
3 a check of the page mete data
4 a scan of a page's content looking for key words
5 a user built list of URLs to disallow access to

and maybe more.
