Quickbooks Assistance Needed

I have a bit of a problem with my quickbooks "Balance Sheet". It does not reflect the corrrect values for accounts recievable. I beleive it is because I have mis-applied a number of payments in the past. Anyway, the real accounts receivable value should be a plus, I believe and should reflect all unpaid, outstanding invoices. I have a minus figure in my AR on the balance sheet.

Can anyone help???
