Smile Some help here please.

Hello,
I am a pretty good scripter I guess... And I would just like to ask a small question... How much would you charge for this script I am just looking for the price... I am not looking for someone to build it for me... I've started developing it, And I'm actually almost done... Just fixing a few bugs in it...

Well It's an instant messenger written in PHP/DHTML WITHOUT a MySQL or any type of SQL Backend... Since most people find installing the SQL of the script difficult. The scripts features include:

- Web based
- Nice encryption script written from scratch
- Uses cookies
- Online/offline also other user groups may be added
- Built in media player
- BB Code for messages + Smilies
- User blocking
- User lists
- Admin accounts
- Admin configuration section
- Online notification(Like MSN's pop-up thing)
- List updates when user comes online
- Can run as background (Windows Active Desktop)
- It's cross platform
- Specially built themes
- Users may choose which theme
- Screen names for chat

That's not all of the features... But most of the important features....

wow.... Thats a lot of stuff. You might want to consider using some other methods instead/as well like Java. A lot of those things would be very hard with PHP/DHTML. You need something that works in real time. I'm pretty sure the only way you could do something like this with PHP/DHTML is if you had it refreash every second or something... Anyway, I'm not nearly capable or doing that so I don't know what I would charge but I would GUESS $15,000 - $30,000

I think the most crucial part of this is how important it is for the client - if there's one that's paying for it that is.
Same old story, if no-one wants it it's worth very little but if it's desperately needed/wanted then maybe look at the commecial application of it - i.e. will it save money, increase productivity etc.
The bottom line for a company is their return on investment.

Hope this helps in your quest....
