Hey, programer's don't need sanity, so go for it Binky! I know a lot of people who need or would benefit from being able to make web pages, but they will never learn Html. That's why those people would probably use something like Dreamweaver. I'm making something along those lines for a CMS for my band's website. Of course, that's just a dumb-down thing to do basic stuff (which is all it really needs). So, if ya wanna make something like a browser-based Dreamweaver, go right ahead!

Update!! I have done many of the features, and these will be added to over time. Certain bits I am working out how to do the features though. Available at themoment are; Account management. FTP functions (create files/folders, change permissions etc..) WYSIWYG editor (limited functionality at the moment) ->Drag and dropping of elements, ->Drag resizing of elements, ->Style adding/removing/editing ->Attribute adding/removing/editing ->Inner HTML ->You can add javascript/PHP in situ by adding it to the innerHTML of an element. Please try it and report back.. I am looking for comments on: ->ease of use ->wording ->color scheme ->features ->browser compatability (doesn't work on Opera, but Mozilla/NS info would be nice) absolutely everything. P.S. The menu background is going to be changed, it's just I haven't got the backup file where I am at the moment. Cheers! Last edited by binky : March 25th, 2003 at 02:59 AM. |

Overall, it's nice, but here are a few suggestions for improvement:
1) Have menus disappear if your cursor moves away from it- if you picked the wrong menu this could be a pain otherwise. 2) Add a code editor 3) Change the "edit" menu to "file," get rid of the "window" menu, and add an "edit" option in the "file" menu which opens the WYSIWYG editor. 4) Make a seperate login and registration pages. It could be confusing for some people. 5) Make it open-source so people can customize/tweak it to meet their own needs. 6) Keep up the good work! |
