hello guys, this is the first time i've posted on the forum though
i have read threads on it quite a lot,What i need is a little help. I am just trying to start of doing freelance web design/coding though i have been hand coding for around 5 years now. I have been emailing people now for about 4 weeks trying to get a bit of experience but the best i've got is "we will log your email for future reference" i only have two sites on my portfolio and they are not great as i mainly only done the php/mysql and perl work on them so theres not a lot to see. It would be great if any one could give me a little advice or maybe i could do a bit of work for someone,i dont mind doing some free jobs as long as i can put them on my portfolio and i would be gaining experience too.I hope you can help me and thanks in advance ![]() my web page is www.lmdwebdesign.co.uk Last edited by lmd : May 18th, 2004 at 06:53 AM. |

I would say you defiently need a bigger portfolio
If you will work for free to build your portfolio I have some non-profit non-commercial webstes you could make I will host them, buy domains etc, If you want to make them |

The most important thing is to have something to show the client. Even if you dont know what the heck you are doing. I've gotten many webdesign jobs that i talked my way into, all you need is something to show.
This is the proposition: You've just become a www.Wickedwd.com associate. As such you may show the portfolio on my site as your own. You get the credit, you get the glory. Example: hi client, yes i have experience i've worked with this company before and now i've branched of with lmd.co.uk, but let me show you some past work, we can do all sorts of stuff for your site, and it'll only cost you... The beauty is you keep the money, my site will get you in the door. I'll even help you if you need a logo or something. In return all i ask is that you help me with this problem I'm in desperate need for some sort of reservation system in which someone can reserve a slot by clicking a certain time span (maybe 15 minutes) in a day and by doing so that time span square turns black or some color so that others cannot choose the same time. What I want is exactly what is at: http://www.ciecpr.com/schedule/index.htm But its in PHP and i'm a Coldfusion developer so i dont know how to use it. But you're not you're a PHP developer and exactly what i need. If you can please go to this site and click 'View' then source and help me out i'd be much abliged. So what do you say? PS Some free advice. Don't say you did a site for friends on your site, it makes you look small. Simply say it was for a company, remember the client needs to be impressed. that site is template though
if you want to go that route just go on ebay and buy a bunch of templates and say you designed them actually wicked all the sites in your portfolio are templates I bought the same pack of templates off ebay of 2.00 here is one of your portfolio sites sitting on my server http://www.ferretmarketing.com/hostinglink/ Last edited by f77 : May 19th, 2004 at 04:11 PM. |

True. But here's the difference you paid for yours mine were free.
I just put those on my site to have something to show, i really work for another bigger co., but they pay crap, so i'm a freelancer that doesn't bother putting his real stuff on his site, since it's just to show clients that Wicked really exists and i'm not some crazy guy trying to steal their money. Plus the other stuff bears the big co. logo, bad for business. the offer is still on the table anybody figure out the reservation system at http://www.ciecpr.com/schedule/index.htm and i'll return the favor, either through free hosting, design, or even $ if you don't go overboard. Check you later, Alas Ps hey, the graphic art is all original though, you could say they are nice you meanie. ![]() |

I don't mean to be blunt here... but, you can bid to do projects over at scriptlance.
How it works is people post projects.... you bid, like $20 lets say, if they pick you you work out payment and you make the script its actually quite a cool website. Its hard to get picked.... but I am sure once you do a few projects and your points go up more people will accept your bids ![]() |
