OK, so this isn't exactly relevant to the topic. But having read an earlier thread I thought it would be interesting to see what you guys have to say about my new website:
http://www.designbyfront.com Some excuses in advance: 1. As with everything, time constraints etc etc mean that there are still other ideas to be implemented and so on. 2. Erm.... Feel free to get stuck in! Paul |

I would not add that much info to front page. Are you scared that visitors will not go into deeper pages?
I think it looks very very (yes 2 times) nice |

Thanks
Thanks for the feedback (& compliment!) and for the emails we received.
The reason we loaded the first page with so much info is so that users will straight away understand what it is we do. With the company name 'FRONT', its not exactly that obvious, but we liked the name so what the hell... No one slagged us for the gratuitous use of flash? Anyway, thanks guys. Paul |

Very nice
But I would say there is too much on the front page. If anything, all the information made it more difficult for me to understand what it is you do. Too much information on many topics without any instantly obvious layout is very offputting, and tends to mean people are unlikely to look at all of the information and absorb it unless they already really want to.I'd make the "second" front page very, very clean (as the graphics are), and then put everything below (and including) the heading "On screen design and services" on seperate pages, with clear links. That introductory first paragraph, and the two lists, give the visitor everything they need to know about what it is you do, leaving them to view your previous work, find out more exactly about what you can do, how you do it, and how to contact you. And I didn't even look at the flash :P |

Interesting
Ha ha!
Sorry - I was assuming that you were talking about the flash page. I think you might have a point about the HTML site having too much info. It seemed like a really good idea to start with but we're going to take a look at what we could do differently. I'll give you a shout when we've made some changes.... Paul. PS - Does anyone think there should be a forum for site critiques? |

It helps the people who make sites to get some pre-launch comments and gives ideas to other people. Would be a nice addidtion to the 'Meta-Discussions' section imho ![]() |
