Foreign Characters Not Supported

I an entertaining the idea of writing a program that will contain both English and Hebrew characters.

A quick test revealed "...characters not supported." Obvious to the most casual observer they are talking about the Hebrew characters.

I am new to Python and am wondering if there is a way around this hurdle?

Thanks

James

Python has extensive support for unicode, so there should not be a problem using hebrew.

Here is a tutorial on Python Internationalization:

You can probably find others if you google hard enough.

I'm back again, having made absolutely zero progress.

When I attempt to program a Hebrew word, I get an exception, "Unsupported charcters in input".

My question then is:

What do I do to get Python to support Hebrew characters?

I've tried to understand unicode, but can't seem to grasp it.

I've googled till I can't google any more.

I need some simple explanation, if possible.
