Need help choosing a library

I want to program a similar effect to what happens if one were to push down on a trampoline. Apart from OpenGL what other libraries would be good to use?

Notes: Basically I'm trying to bend a line whenever an object gets close to it. A rather simple 2D effect. I will also eventually be doing this effect in 3D as well.

I'm rather new to Python (and these forums) but I can pick up things pretty quickly so as I said if someone could point me in a direction that will bear much fruit it would be appreciated
