New Python Install trouble

Absolute non-programmer here...just installed both 2.4 & 2.3 and am already confused. A beginner tutorial keeps referring to run...does that mean just hitting the enter key or doing something else?

I plan on getting testing for DBA certification in about 1-1 1/2yrs. I've been reading this wonderful forum & have been convinced that Python is where I need to begin, hands down.

I started trying to learn VB6 but have taken the advice given here am going to give Python a try 1st.

Any other suggestions out there for me??? Thanks all!

IDLE is probably the best thing to start learning with. It will execute python code that you enter. It comes with Python in its directory.
