There are soooo many websites out there on python.. just a starting point but you can check out:

http://www.python.org - a must for beginners!
http://www.pythonware.com - another excelent python site, also a new Python URL every day!
http://www.python-eggs.org/links.html - some greate Python links.
http://www.uselesspython.com - community spirited bunch
http://www.google.com - BIGGEST RESOURCE ANY OF US HAVE (also Python Powered)

Sorry, I should of been more specific.

Are there any other programming forums/newsgroups/discussion areas/etc. where you can ask people for help with programming.

http://www.dbforums.com/f97/ is by far the best, it also happens to be comp.lang.python . There are also several other Python forums dotted around but not as active as this forum so..

Also check out http://www.python.org/search/search_news.html for info about newsgroups!
