    I'd like to add that if you're planning to do GUI programming with Python, PyGTK is very useful.

    I've finally gotten around to HTMLizing the mini-tutorial I wrote for iamsobored007 back in June. So far it's just the original text with new markup and some minor editing, but I hope to expand on it in the near future - though of course I said that about the C preprocessor tutorial, and I still need to fix that, too.

    (And yes, I know that I still need to find a new host, one which doesn't have a lot of obnoxious ads preferably, but it hasn't exactly been a priority for me lately.)

    /me chants ominously in Latin over the grave of the thread

    Just in case it helps. Seeing how it hasn't been sticky'ed and all...

    Using Python Website

    Hi, here's a tutorial that I've been working on:
    usingpython.com

    You can use the tutorials to learn Python whilst making a number of games, such as hangman, battleships and an RPG game.

    Feel free to add it to this thread if it's of any use; I'm a new member so I can't post URLs!

    Thanks.

    Python resources on-line

    Here's another

    ProgramArcadeGames (dot) com

    * 84 free tutorial videos
    * Start creating graphics by Chapter 5.
    * Full text of the book on-line.
    * Cookbook of 47 example programs
    * On-line multiple choice quizzes track your progress.
    * Short-answer questions test your knowledge in more depth.
    * Labs – see if you understand by creating your own games.
    * Sample tests – Test your knowledge.
    * Program in Python
    * Track, grade, and mentor students' progress through the course

    I've put this book together and refined it from year-to-year based on student feedback during
    their first semester of programming at Simpson College.
    This is a first-semester course
    and assumes no prior knowledge of programming. I've successfully run hundreds of students
    through this course and had them create their own arcade games. Each time I refine the course
    and use their questions to make the book that much better.

    Plus, there are Russian and Turkish translations thanks to some volunteers!

    I didn't see either of these in anything yet, but if they were already mentioned, feel free to delete them.

    Code Academy Online Python Training (free) - Really great intro to Python (and other languages) and you get to practice them right there on the site

    MIT online intro to computer science (free) - open course from MIT. You get all the lectures and videos, resources, notes, etc. Very cool since it's free and they use Python as the language

    Ressource links

    I posted some links in my blog about starting out with Python, since I am starting out and discovering Python myself :

    http://
    webswap.free.fr/discovering_python/blog.2013-05-25.Python_Resources.html

    It has some good useful PDF books you can download (and print) and tutorials and docs.
