Returning ADO Recordset from a Function

Hello, I have a function (QueryDB) that uses a com object written in vb to access a MySQL database. I want to return the recordset from QueryDB to the calling function and then be able to access the fields. Is this possible? Here is the code:

oRS = utility.QueryDB(self.PROD_DB, sSQL)
self.config = oRS.Fields("CONFIG").Value
self.seq = oRS.Fields("SEQUENCE").Value

From utility.QueryDB:

Return oRS

If I examine the contents of the RS in QueryDB, the data is correct.
