I am working on a project involving the same thing. I am currently using pymedia with succes, but the file that gets created sounds sort of crackly and buzzes in patterns. I've tried recording with windows audio recorder and it sounds clear, so it must have something to do with how I'm writing the sound device data to the file.

My source code is can be found here if you're interested in reviewing it. It's based on an example from the pymedia site .

If anyone has any suggestions or examples of how to get rid of the excess noise, let me know.
