Question which version fit my RedHat ?

Hi all~

my OS is RedHat7.1 and I want to practise Python on it. I searched www.python.org but found the package only for RedHat7.3, 7.2 and 6.2~ Is that fit for my OS please ?

I think you should have no problems.

But, I think you probably already have Python installed with your Linux distribution - just type "python" (w/o the quotes) at the command prompt and see what's happening.

the later rpms should work, but dont remove the old version of python, rh uses it for other things. the rpm will install the new version as python2.

i removed my old version and up2date would not work, so had to reinstall python 1.5.2.

once installed do command = which python2 , this will tell you which directory it lives in.
