How do I install modules? (using ActiveState)
I am using ActiveState's distro of Python, and I need to install my first few modules. Is there a central/authoritative location for modules like Perl's CPAN? Once I download a module anyway, I need to do something do "install" it, I think. Or at least for most modules.
Specifically, I am wanting to install wx modules for use with SF's drPython.
"If it will have to be done more than once, don't do it. Make something that does it for you."
"If you want to get out of the box, you must not think outside the box, you must think about the box. In fact, think about destroying the box."

Almost all Python modules will come with a setup script: incidentally called ?setup.py?. In these cases all you need to do is to run this script to install the program. This is covered very well in the ?installing Python modules? section of the Python documents (below).
As for CPAN, the closest we have to this right now is the PyPI or Python Package Index. It's considerably smaller but it's still one of th first place I would look for a much needed Python module; a very close second to Google .
Hope this helps,
