Write python programs in Apple Notes or Pages??

I can't see the tiny print font in IDLE and want to write programs on my Apple in Notes (or Pages) so I can see what I'm doing.
When I copy and paste from Notes to IDLE the programs won't run.
I would be very grateful for any help.

Yes, idle is hard to use.
Yes, cutting and pasting from an editor works poorly because you have to follow stricter formatting rules.

Instead, use emacs to write python programs. From a shell running in emacs shell mode issue command

$ python my_fine_program.py
Code tags
are essential for python code and Makefiles!

Under the IDLE Options tab you can configure the base font and size.
Real Programmers always confuse Christmas and Halloween because Oct31 == Dec25

Options tab doesn't give any drop down options

When i select the OPTIONS tab, nothing happens. All the other tabs give drop down options.

Loading and running emacs looks complicated. In IDLE when I push on options tab nothing happens (supposedly can alter font size).

Indeed, effectively using emacs takes work. If you choose a career in keyboard work you'll rejoice learning emacs. I expect emacs to handle future technologies, there is an espeak module now.

Thank you. I'll look into getting started on emacs.
