May I ask for advice about Screen Scraping using Ruby on Window?
I am very new to ruby and have been trying to get this thing working for many days but I am no where near. My goal is to extract information from a webpage and save it into MySql database. From looking around, it seems that Ruby can be the easiest way to do it. However, I couldn't find way to run and compile Ruby code on window.
Here is what I have done:
1) Installed the "Ruby 1.8.6 One-Click Installer"
2) Installed Instant Rails
I am using this tutorial as an example: //dmix.ca/2008/09/how-to-scrape-websites-in-ruby-on-rails-using-scrubyt/
However, I don't see how I can run that example code from the tutorial on window? Where do I have to go and compile that ruby code? I am very confused and lost about this issue. I tried searching around using Google, and I found no page explaining how I can run ruby code on window. Thank you so much.

Ruby is an interpreted language and it therefore dosn't need compiling. Instead go to a command prompt window and type ruby followed by the location of the file relative to the current directory.
