Looking for programmer to code script. Paying gig!

I'm looking for someone who could write a simple script for me.

I would need it to do the following:

Copy specific items from one document (excel, pdf, word), and paste them into an XML file.

Our XML file constantly needs updating. It's a huge pain to do it all by hand.

I am offering $5, possibly $6 dollars for this script.

Not for nothing, but the cost of most programmers time will start in the tens of dollars an hour. Disseminating the three types of documents you present into a common format based, presumably, on some provided conditions is likely to take more than a few minutes.

No one is going to cave, no one is interested. Your thread has not even got enough attention for anyone to tell you this is posted in the wrong forum.

What we are saying, is that you need to offer a lot more money than the change you have in your car.

You have no idea how much work this will take, so you really can't place a realistic offer. Plus a programmer typically wants money for starting a project, and money for the amount of time spent working on it, and probably a minimum amount of money if it doesn't take very long.

I would say you are not going to have any interest in this until you offer at least $20, and that is only if this is easy to do.

I imagine though, what you would get from the programmer, wouldn't do everything you want it to, and you would have to get more added to it, which would be more money, and more of his time.

You all raise good points. Maybe I'm not appreciating how hard this would be to write.

Either attempt doing it yourself or realize you're going to be paying more than $10 for someone else to do it for you.
