RoR and PHP on same host

I'm in the process of learning RoR as opposed to PHP. If I develop an application under the RoR framework is it also possible to use PHP for another application on the same host/domain.

I suppose what I'm asking: is it either one or the other or it doesn't matter?

It doesn't matter. If it is installed on the server, it will work.

Thanks for a very quick reply. I was hoping that would be the answer. Therefore is the reason for this web page convention; rhtml, to distinguish it from the PHP side of things. I'm thinking out aloud now.

It works but there is some issue with the file permissions.
Where as all the files in RAILS app should be with 644 permissions, so should be the permission of all the files in php.
I know that weird but that happened and i was looking why my php code isn't working.
Neither less rights nor More.. It should be 644.
