Best way to build website with payment system?
My intention is to build a simple website which offers little services, for instance something like writing a letter or something like that.
Therefore I require a payment system on the site.
I was wondering what is the most appropriate solution to this idea?
-sign up with a provider specialised in online shops (they do all the work)
-get a free CMS and integrate a payment system
-code it all by myself
-get a freelancer to do it for me
I have a basic yet working knowledge of web development (e.g. php, mysql, html etc) and have hard coded a few web sites including a few databases.
What is the most feasible solution in terms of effort, expenditure and level of difficulty for someone with my experience?
Any help appreciated, thanks!

It doesn't sound like you need an extensive custom system for this. You could find an existing shopping cart that will handle the payment stuff for you. Even setting up a basic PayPal payment form should be pretty simple for someone of your skill set.
The most important part of it is figuring out what payment gateway provider you want to use. That will dictate your options more than anything else.
