email newsletter app
I have a web site that has a database of about 7000 records, including an email for each record. All of these people are "opt-in", it's the database for a non-profit I donate time to (no SPAM). We would like to email things out to them now and then. Is there a "ready made" script, preferably PHP based, that can both manage email newsletters / campaigns, and tap into our existing base (not have to re-enter all the data)? I assume that if the tables are not to fancy, I could just populate the email applications tables from our existing tables? I do have ezmlm installed, but it's just a nightmare to automatically populate ezmlm unless it's installed with mysql support, and to date, I have yet to crack that mystery. Anyway, I was looking for a bit more management functionality than ezmlm seems to have.
Before we get off into that, I'm not averse to writing something myself using PEAR to deal with SMTP (mail() is inappropriate for these numbers...), but why reinvent the wheel? The platform is CentOS3, the database is MySQL, I would like to use PHP, but might be persuaded to go with a Perl app... Thanks for your help... |
