File upload to MYSQL database using PHP
Hi there
I'm fairly new to this game. I need to create a PHP script that will allow me to upload MS Word, Excel docs etc to a MYSQL database, and store a couple of pieces of metadata etc alongside it (e.g. date/time saved etc). All the info I can find on the web about uploading docs to MYSQL are about reading in text to the database. I just need it to hold docs, and to display a list of docs currently in the db to users, and allow users (with the right access level) to retrieve, view (in the format they're saved in, e.g. in Word) and delete the documents. If a document is uploaded in MS Word, when a user clicks on the document, it should open up in MS Word. This is the part I'm struggling to find info on - all examples save the document text into the db. I'm sure it should be fairly straightforward, but can't find any examples! Any/all help greatfully received, please help! |

I'm not to great with PHP, but I think I read somewhere that the BLOG datatype is capable of holding mp3's so I am pretty sure it can hold word/ppt files. You might want to try the PHP development section as well, if you do a few searches for file upload or something along those lines you should be able to get a few relevant topics.
