Fixing total number of posts made by each member (phpBB)

I had some accident and I had to restore the forum running phpBB. Luckily I was able to restore 99% of posts; however, there is some glitch. Total number of posts made by the member is messed up. phpBB shows the total number of posts each member made right next to his/her username, but the number is incorrect (apparently the number is not counted dynamically but it's stored somewhere in the database). The number has gone up way too high for some reason. How can I fix this?
