Need a good "password create/change" validation script
I am looking for help from anyone who may have some code snippets, examples, or ideas for building a generic password creation/modification script.

Currently in my system a user's password expires after 90 days (dates stored in MySQL). I would like to have code to do the following edits:
  • Cannot match old password (got this one!)
  • must be between six characters and fifteen (I can do this too).
  • Must not contain spaces, tabs, or line returns (special characters)
  • must contain at least one numeral in the six digits (preg_match() maybe?)
Those are the basic principals I want to enforce in password creation/modification.
