Ahhh... so this is where the thread went. lol. I had to search to find the stupid thing since I thought it might have been deleted.

I just installed Serendipity at home, very nice. Most of the templating is done through CSS.

(sic)master's question was valid. If you don't have anything meaningful to contribute to a thread, don't post. Pissing off people with valid questions sort of misses the point of a community forum. Flaming idiots is one thing; flaming people who have a real need is quite another. Figure out the difference; if you don't get the difference, again, don't post until you do figure it out. Thanks.

I didn't bark at you for posting in the wrong board. If I see a post in the wrong board, I move it. Only if people are abusing the system to I chew them out. Don't sweat it, DS is huge, even I don't know all of the forums in this place.

I post to each thread that I move. If you automatically subscribe to threads (which you should), you'll see an update to any new posts in subscribed threads in your User CP. You can subscribe to threads w/o email messages, to prevent inbox clogging.

Dr Groove,

I appreciate what you are saying, but I wasn't trying to flame anyone. I posted that I didn't understand why he posted the "question" in the php board when all of the help and answers he recieved seemed to only aggrivate him. It's my understanding that the php board is used to get answers to problems with code. He wanted a premade script and wasn't interested in help creating one, nor did he want to pay a programmer to create one.

From what I could tell nothing good was coming from his responces to the help that was offered so I posted. Honestly the only reason I posted anything in the first place is because I've seen too many people come to a forum, post a random question and then flame everyone who tries to help with a "I'm so much smarter than you idiots" type of attitude. I'm not saying that was Sic's intention, but from the replies he recieved, all of which were people trying to help, his answers seemed to be leaning in that direction. I decided to post to see if my thoughts were correct.

I meant no disrespect to anyone and especially this community. I have been a member here for close to a year and while my post count doesn't reflect it, I find this to be a great resource and community. I truly posted with the overall community in mind as I'm not afraid to confront the occasional jackass that finds their way to the forum. I will be more tactful in the future however seeing that this is the third reply in this thread about how "out of line" my post was.

thanks,

Chris

Can you? With the past version of vB you couldn't do that. I turned off my subscriptions since I was getting about 50 emails a day.

Hi, I;m intersted on how that code works, does that replace a database? What do the person using that script have to do with journal.txt? Write each journal entry to update? How's the syntaz (if any)?

That sounds interesting to me

Sorry, I'm a PHP noob
