news post system

hi, this might be a pretty common question, but I'm looking for a type of news post system or portal that looks something like the one on www.k10k.org

Something that is customizable and has good user control. I've searched through a lot of news portal scripts, php-nuke, post-nuke, cute php, etc. and can't really find something similar. any ideas out there? thanks

Yes, I've tried searching for something like this with no luck, i've downloaded and configured other portals and scripts with no luck. I'm still learning PHP and MySQL so I haven't been able to create something with the complexity(simplicity to some i imagine) I need. I'm hoping I will find something I can use and also learn from. Thanks.
