Joomla was my choice amongst many, though there may be more out there at this stage. Seemed to be the biggest community as well

I try to avoid re-inventing the wheel where ever possible...
..this is of course once the wheel has proved to be a safe reliable component and with reasonably good documentation, and suits the axel ![]()

But whatever you do, forget about *nuke. They are all, by and large, junk. Geeklog is "nuke-like" if that's what you want, and it has a good rep as far as I've heard. But nuke sites are generally all cookie cutter butt-ugly wrecks. |

I created my own CMS. I did it for the learning experience. It's not portable at all however. If I had to do it over again, I would have made it more general. But it works great for the tasks I use it for.

A while back, I was involved in writing the specifications for a CMS to manage medium size on-line editions of newspapers. We looked long and hard at of-the-shelf application suits that could be modified, but in the end opted for a custom solution for a perfect fit. It felt much better to have something that met our spacific needs rather than cobbling together something that sort of did what we wanted. |
