PhpMyAdmin - is this authenticaton ok?
Hi all!
I just installed phpmyadmin on my VPS, in config.inc.php from under Quote:
I set from config to http, is this ok ? cause I read that some people use .htaccess to protect phpmyadmin directory, but then I think that would make mess with my http choice, sorry for probably dumb questions but I'am new to this. Thanks! |

I like a combination ...
Use Apache's basic HTTP authentication to protect the phpMyAdmin directory with a single user/password. Then use phpMyAdmin's cookie-based authentication. This doubles the user/pass needed if it's just you using it. It's also useful if you're hosting a couple of people, all of whom access the same phpMyAdmin installation, as it prevents non-clients from getting to the app in the first place and clients from viewing others databases, etc (provided you have MySQL set correctly).

Thanks for the reply, if I understood you corectly, I should set it to cookie based and then use .htaccess to protect directory? btw, VPS belongs to me so no one beside me will be using it |
