Well there is this unofficial rule about forums... when necessary,
be un-realisticly blunt so that a person doesn't make any/continue to act stupid when it comes to business... or any other matter that may (as felt by the poster) necessary.. if you don't like it... grow up. there are two things you can do when you feel slighted: (1) cry about it (2) move on.. it's just text on a page (for all we know that person could just be in a pissy mood).. don't leave cause of something somebody said.. rather leave cause you found another forum that you're more comfortable with or because overnight you knew everything about everything and you began getting emails addressed to God. |

Dude, I have nothing against a kid going into business. I am 14 myself, and I think it's great that kids are going into business. But you really are taking the wrong approach. It appears that you really have no clue what you're talking about when it comes to webhosting, or business in general. Do you have a business plan for this new 'business' of yours? If you do and it seems like it will work, you should try to get investors, and then hire someone to make that script for you, because a custom script like that will probably cost you at least one thousand dollars, given that it is secure and it works. If you can't scrape up the money, you should probably consider creating it yourself. What programming languages do you know? A script like that will probably require much more than basic php/mysql knowledge. You might have a web-based php control center, but you would definitely need something more in-depth on the server side. It could be made with an ongoing process that would setup the servers, coded in C/C++, with networking between servers done in perl and/or C/C++, and, if you wanted, a simple web-based php control panel. As you can see, it would be a very large project. You are approaching it like it is something that someone could just whip up in an afternoon, with an uncertain promise of free hosting. You really need to reconsider your business model if you were planning it this way. Also, you said that you don't have any money, how do you expect to get a dedicated server for free? You weren't hoping to achieve this with shared hosting, were you? You would need at least one dedicated server to start something like this, which would probably cost you around $300 per month (for something competitive). I really want to know, how were you planning to do this without any money? I'm not trying to be mean, and like I said above, I have nothing against kids going into business. It is jsut the way that you are going about it that is extremely unprofessional and makes you seem pretty ignorant. |

This is retarded,....
I dont understand, Usually a forum is where people go for help,..like this guy did, and you flame him??? Then get into a pissing contest about who is better at spelling and webhosting or whatever the f@#k. Neither one of you are Bill Gates or Donald Trump. Get on a Ventrillo server and piss in there and leave this guy alone.
On a constructive note for the businessman,....go to http://www.dynamicdrive.com/ I have used them for a while and usually find the help or the script I need there. As for the flaming, ignore it and I wish you the best of luck in you business. |

1. Don't resurrect dead threads. 2. So you're trying to tell me that we are only being "helpful" to someone if we say what they want to hear? Sometimes, the truth hurts. Sometimes, people need someone to tell them how much time and money they can lose venturing into a world that they know nothing about. Would you rather see someone walk into starting a business thinking "oh, this will be easy" and lose thousands of dollars? I wouldn't. The harsh reality is that starting a business is not gingerbread houses and raindrops made of pixie dust. I wonder where this kid's business is now that we're almost a year later? |
