Script to shutdown Linux
I run a small webserver from my house.
I have one big APC UPS that protects all my computers but manages only one (xp). On that managed computer you have the option to run a file or script at different battery levels. I want to write a windows batch file (or VBS) for the computer to run when the battery gets down to 20% or what ever that will gracefully shutdown my linux server. Is this possible? Can anyone please point me in the right direction? Vince |

Yeah, thanks.
The problem with that was it didn't work. I tried it but there were problems scripting telnet commands and responses. There were some applications on the market to do this but I like free. I found a way to do it using RSH. Windows rsh command works cross platform and can control a Linux server. It's not the most secure solution but it is my private network at home so security isn't much of an issue. Thanks for your time though!!! Vince |
