Hmm, I think it's a pity to refer to a social networking site as a "script". Running a social network is difficult. There are so many things you need to know how to do.
For example, it's not worth making a social network site if you are only going to have 100 or less members. Social network sites usually attract thousands of simultaneous visitors. This means that you cannot treat it simply as a "script you install on your shared hosting server". Scalability becomes a problem.
