Hi,
I am looking for some serious guidance...can anyone please help me? My requirement stands like this: I have a dedicated server. I want my members to reach our site & register. On registering, I want to offer them a sub-domain instantly (based on their userid). (say, Mr. ABCD goes to www .mysite .com & after registration gets a site called abcd .mysite .com). So, how do I do it on the fly? Again, Once this sub-domain is configured...say abcd .mysite .com. What do I need to do in order to map a Top Level Domain (TLD) like www .abcd .com to abcd .mysite .com? What do I need to do all these on the fly (I mean...an automated process). I have a Windows2003 server with own DNS server. So, script wise I will be running ASP (or .NET if required). However, the server supports PHP as well. I am running IIS 6.0. Can you please guide me to apossible solution? Thanks in advance. Please help!!! Regards WC ![]()

There are commericial web-hosting softwares out there that do what you specified and a lot more. Check out plesk, ensim etc. Ofcourse, non of them are free, so if you are looking for a cheap solution, you'll have to dig deeper. Just google "web hosting software"
Good Luck!! |

Hi Lightnin,
Thanks for the post. Well..I have Helm Control Panel...& what they do is...use a special Active X object...& it's properties/methods etc. I don't want this system to be manual. I want something to happen automatically...Automation is my objective. Even if I get to know which files are to be updated...the type of entires that needs to be done...& the location of such files...I can write a snippet to do the work. But...honestly speaking..I am not very clear of these details (as to what entires are to be written...& on what files...& the syntax). So...I guess I am still in dark. Nevertheless...I do appreciate your sincere help. Thanks! Regards WC ![]() |
