Wanted: A Free PHP Webmail Program
I am interested in a free PHP webmail program. I need something like Hivemail because I do not have access to unlimited email accounts. Hivemail would be the perfect program, but it is not free and I have zero budget. I have a catchall account, PHP, MySql, plenty of space and bandwith, Cron Jobs, cPanel. a working knowledge of PHP and HTML, and if really really necesary access to CGI/Perl. It does not need to use a catch-all account, but so far to my knowledge that is the only way to have so many email accounts.
Thanks, aarbear Last edited by aarbear : February 11th, 2004 at 10:01 PM. |

Those programs require a pop3 account for every user, which I cannot accomidate. Like I said above, I do not have access to that many pop3 accounts; only 5. Otherwise, I would use one of the programs, but I need something like hivemail that allows a catchall account.

That program would be my dream program and I *MAY* use it. The only problem is that it is 1) buggy and 2) very poorly translated and sometiems hardcoded as far as language 3) I have to go back and forth to google translations to use many features. Anything else? If this is it I may work on modding it to make it english friendly and remove bugs. I would prefer if there was a more ideal program, but I take what I can get. Anything else?

I don't know of any other programs that accomplish what you want them to for free. If you need any help with translations, let me know.

Hey.. I found this page on google : http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.b1g.info%2Fprodukte%2Fb1gmail%2F&langpair=de%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&safe=off&prev=%2Flanguage_tools To be very useful as far as B1g mail goes.. Doesn't look too bad.. I guess all the work would be translating it to english.
Peace, -Kel URL |

lol....not to be mean, but everyone knows about that. That is how I even read the page in the first place. The thing is, google translations get the point across, but they are rarely perfect.

more like, they are far from perfect
it is sometimes interesting to use their translations just to see how wrong they are... many times they will leave more advanced words untranslated, and they sometimes even mess up the entire meaning of the text. It's much easier and more accurate to use someone who speaks the language. |

true, very true. Unfortuneately, "real" translations are harder.
Off topic, BTW, where is Laguna Niguel? I am in Los Angeles, CA, and that rings a bell, but I forget where it is. |
