    Comment spammers help

    hi

i have an extremely small and insignificant site - i usually get more hits from googlebot than genuine visitors (the site is only really there for personal use and used to keep a google ads account active and tradedoubler affiliate accounts for my own use etc).

but lately i've got comment spammers targeting the comments system of the links site.

i've been dealing with this by simply deleting the comments and banning the IPs but the .htaccess now has over 300 deny entries.

are there any suggestions how best to deal with this?

is there anything i can do to waste their resources at the same time too?

    thanks in advance

PS my scripting knowledge is poor so please treat me like a newbie

I would add CAPTCHA to your comments, most if not all of the SPAM is probably coming from bots.

    Thanks,
