2 questions

my site (in my signature)
im planning on buying a domain in the next month, once ive updated my site and uploaded some new work etc.

first question: my site is very low in search criteeria (630,000 for 1 search term on alexa) and i have a page rank of 4 which i suppose isnt too bad considering its only been online for a month, what is the best way to get it higher up in search engines? how could i optimise it?
ive used:
  • alt tags
  • meta tags
  • i have a few links to me on message boards and other sites

my second question is, would i be best doing the optomising AFTER ive bought the domain? the domain will end up pointing to the same site anyway, so does it matter which order i do it in?

cheers tony

1. The best way to get higher page ranks is to reduce your code-to-content ratio. Check out the following article at AListApart.

As for alt tags, they should always be used for images that can be considered content. Meta tags aren't used too much anymore. Instead, search engines parse the content for keywords.
