Absolutely. Google tracks this as it is a big indicator of someone buying links or just bombarding places to get links.

No, Google does not see your links automatically. They see them the next time they index your site But if you have a high PR site then they may appear to have automatically been seen by google.

do i need to submit it in to more directoires?

Link building is the key for an effective SEO. Social bookmarking is a good point to start with. Blog commenting is the next thing to do. Forum posting will come next.

This is true, most blogs have no follow tags. In doing this it is supposed to stop commenters needlessly commenting on hundreds of sites to get back links.

When you submit your site in free directory then it's required more approval time and not guaranty to inclusion OK . Try to submit in good directory and more and more submit in free directory . after some time you get the result on traffic as well as in ranking
