Best way to get links to your site?

SEO is hard, and it seems like the best way to get better search results is to get links to your site.

Anyone have good experience at this or know of a good way to do it? Just email people cold?

Forums, link sharing with other web users. ALl these methods allow for link building with others.

The problem is everyone uses the web in a different way so its difficult to know what people are going to do.

Use the social bookmarking sites. This will allow you to get links onto the web and also allow others to see articles etc.

This topic has been discussed loads of times here. Do a search and you will find plenty of info.

Emailing people can work, but keep it personal - not a blanket email to loads of sites.

Make your site usefull and people will naturally link to it.

Have a good footer design search for design blogs that offer inspirational footer designs to designers, email them for a listing and a review.

Have a good unquie tool for your area again look for sites that link to such sites.

The thing here is you have to offer something that is of value to get a good link.

I run several lists that I know me site vistors will want, parental control software, websites that offer printable colouring in sheets that sort of thing. Good sites that are just natural and not done by a an over aggressive SEO are hard to find. Also the search engines have no idea to the actual value of a page in your site visitors eyes they rank based on set variables not actually useable factors.

Now the problem with this is that the actually good sites can be hard to find, I know trust me, 3 days in and I only have 34 sites of any value to fill 13 caterogries, page 25+ in Google, 12+ in Live so far for 3 days work. Of which 12 where submitted by a freind of mine, 6 from the DMOZ

I link to other sites for free if they fit the criteria.

The only catch is the site has to be good for me to link to them. My site vistors then come back because as I say the sites are hard to find and thus having them in 1 place is easier than starting from scratch win win situation all round.

Hi,

Seo is not hard, but it requires patience if you are going through natural SEO. Natural seo is the best way of promoting a website. The natural seo includes Directory submission(search engine friendly), writing articles and optimize these articles by submitting in articles directories, write press releases and distribute these, try social book marking your blogs, articles and press releases.

Participation in forums is also a great way that you are doing now. Regarding getting list of directories: search with the phrase "free directories" in google search bar, you will get thousands of directories. No need to worry...........be positive.

I always make sure also that the directories are quality directories. There are plenty out there that aren't, just keep an eye out!

(quality in the eyes of google...and if they are related to your niche then even better!)
