This Trust myth/factor in Google is unsettling. I am in competition in an highly competitive market and one of the competitors has two pages from his site in the Top Ten. One of the pages has been at 1st position since I can remember (a good few years).
The site was first registered in 1994 - Google likes old sites I know that - but it s heaving with barely visible keyword stuffed text - I'm talking about 2 A4 pages worth that sits a few key entries below the dated looking design. All the image alt tags are again keyword stuffed to near-bursting point. I've checked the back links running to the site and the majority have no relevancy - even if you took a load of mind bending drugs you'd still be hard pushed to make a connection.
Its frustrating as hell because no matter what I have done in the past I still can't shake it off that top spot - I'm tempted to even try some BH stuff myself to shift it but knowing my luck I'd be shot down by Big G.
