dealing with hyphenated names
I was recently asked to modify a web site for a small Art gallery.
First page is titled "un-titled Art gallery Singapore". (www.un-titledgallery.com) and has PR of 2 I advised the hyphen would be an issue but they have already branded around it. I have seen the following from google and i'm wondering if anyone has any tips to improve their rankings "un-titled" (with quotes) gives number 2 un titled = no 2. Unfortunately i doubt anyone would type either of these un titled art gallery = 3rd page (this wont be typed either) un-titled = Nowhere i can see I anticipated the hyphen would force results of "un" without the "titled" but it seems to combine the two words and give 'untitled' as the first few pages of results. Since potential viewers wont put the name in quotes is there anyway to tell google that un-titled is a valid entry for users ? apart from changing the name which they dont want to do is there a way to practically use a hyphenated name ? Also i checked the first 500 results for Art Gallery Singapore and they dont show for this at all which doesnt make sense given the irrelevant sites from about result 100 onwards. Is this an issue with pink on grey being ignored ? Last edited by cdxp : January 19th, 2005 at 12:47 AM. Reason: context and remove link |

I think that the answer to your question is impossible. "-" hyphen is space to Google *** period ***. There is nothing you can do about it. Oh, since Google is a public company now, you can buy the company. That gives you ability to tell engineers to change Google algo ...
