Doh... directories and search engines

Hey there,
I'm looking around for some places to get quality links and I figured a great place to start is industry specific directories, etc.
I've only been able to find one site so far that is geared towards this type of thing (http://www.the-search-engine-directory.com ). Do any of you have any other sites you'd recommend for this kind of link marketing? I like the idea of being able to get links without having to reciprocate anything. This search-engine-directory site seems to be exactly what I'm looking for but also seems to be a little bit new and underdeveloped, but hey... at least the accept submissions which makes me believe maybe they're trying to gear it as sort of a community project or something. Any ideas where I can find some more sites like these?

I replied at your other post also, but depending on your sites quality, applying for awards from rated and recognized award programs would boost your sites appearance in the search engines by using their branding.

Not all award programs are of that caliber and the good ones are only looking for the best websites. A good link to start at is http://uwsag.com

I hadn't even thought of using award programs... that's a pretty good idea. What do they usually place emphasis on as far as design usually? I keep my websites pretty simple (basic text, etc.) because I value ranking more than I do flash, etc.
Did you happen to check out that link I also gave in my earlier post? What did you think of it?

They vary you would have to read the criteria of what they would disqualify your site for and what would just be points deducted.
