Domain Forward w/o .htaccess
Hello, I have a question with regards to domain forwarding without using .htaccess for 301/302 redirects -- because dotEasy does not allow .htaccess with their $0 web hosting.
Using dotEasy's default domain forwarding creates a meta="refresh" htm page in my directory, however after much research I found out that google hates that (Yahoo! doesn't seem to mind if content="" is greater than 1 second) Now the only other way I know of Search Engine Freindly forwarding is to just put a link on the "parked" domain for the user to click, however I would like to avoid this if possible. ...Maybe there is a DNS work around I can use? If there are no other options, I will just transfer the 9 other domains to a paid service which offers .htaccess Yes i know 9 is alot of extra domains but some generate lots of type-in traffic. Thanks! |

If you use a dynamic programming language do the 301 redirect in the header of your homepage in that programming language. It's just as good as doing it in .htaccess.

Server Side Scripting is also not supported such as Perl, etc.

I'd say it's definitely time to switch.

Put the link so search engines will follow it, and use JavaScript to do the redirect. That's probably as good as it gets for you limited environment and needs.
You will always face these limitations on free servers. If you're serious about your websites, even just a little bit, pay for hosting. You can get virtual servers for $5 per month. You get what you pay for.
