Exact Match Domains Google Update

Hi guys,

As you might already know - Google updated there algorithm again last week!

It targeted a high number of exact match domains, and several of them were mine including Roulette.co.uk .

Can i have some of your opinions on if you were targeted and what niche the sites are in?

Two of my health niche sites were hit. One is blatantly obvious keyword stuffing which I created years ago. Although I didn't do any work on it for a long while it was still bringing me 1-2 Amazon sales.
The other one did had some content, but health niche is getting tougher to dominate for affiliates because Google is favoring authority sites a lot more. Also authority sites have gotten wiser and creating pages for medicine types etc.
I didn't lose much from these updates but learned a lot. I'll be very skeptical about doing something in the health niche from now on.

Cheers mate, yeah tbh ive always stayed away from the health niche - i find other sites too challenging!

Google team is composed by smart people.
They are not going to punish blindly a shoe store to be called shoestore.com.
However, if you stick your shoestore keywords in every corner of your website, yes, this is smelling like a trick and they might get upset with your website.

Agreed, however i don't think keyword stuffing was anything to do with it.

I might have got a few dodgy links in the past!

EMD update is targeting sites that are having low quality content. It's most likely that an EMD site hit by Panda, is more likely to get effected most by the EMD update.

I agree with 0098. Google target EMD but I think they will not penalized until they do something wrong. Keyword stuffing, poor content etc will pull them down. I think These days EMD sites pull down not for their exact match but for their poor quality.

Exact match is one of the oldest technique to target the keywords,If domain with same as keywords then we can get easily rank in Google SERP.

If we are updating quality content that includes a good amount of information, Google will not penalize such sites but if there is no quality in the content and did a lot of keyword stuffing, Google is not going to rank the blog or website well in any condition.
