good on MSN, bad on Yahoo and Google
Hi there,
My site is about online for about 3 months. Only recently Google started to show one backlink. But on MSN it appears on first page for many keywords. Not on Yahoo and Google. MSN bot also shows 3 times more traffic than other bots. Any ideas what can be done for Yahoo and Google? Thanx alot. |

Basically the MSN bot has been crazy lately. It doesnt mean that your rank will be higher in MSN or whatever it just means that MSN has implemented some new algoriths etc. Make sure that you follow good SEO instructions etc and keep updating your content regularly. The best way to have a better google rank is to have large websites linking to yours. Sites like microsoft.com or ibm.com are ranked highest because every monkey links to them and wether they like it or not help their page-ranking. Basically it comes down to this: if your site isn't interesting people won't link to you therefor your pagerank will suck. When you finally get linkage you can focus on small details such as RSS feeds bold text and better links on your webpage. End of story.
Yours, Eddy

To get even semi-decent rankings in Google with a 3-month old site is almost impossible. Google keeps new sites down for however long (varies from keyword to keyword, but is usually between 6 and 15 months) just to prove that they site will be there for the long run and isn't just another throw-away effort at some quick $$.
As for Yahoo!, I don't know what's needed there. As far as I've seen with my sites, I optimise them as well as I can for Google, and Yahoo! and MSN seem to just follow along. For me, Yahoo! is hammering my sites at the moment, but they are sending me traffic, so I'm not going to complain! All you can do is sit back, wait it out, and try to enahce the SEO on your site, bit by bit, and you'll gradually see improvements. In this business, it's all about time and patience. |

I agree with the other two guys. 3 months is really not much. Check again in 6+ months and try to get more and more links till then.

Google sandboxes new sites. you will need 9-12 months to get serious traffic from Google.
